Prepare for an unforgettable four-day trekking adventure that takes you far into the untouched heart of the Gunung Leuser rainforest. Led by our certified and experienced guides, you’ll explore one of the world’s most biodiverse ecosystems and have the chance to encounter a spectacular range of wildlife, including:
One of the absolute highlights of this trek is observing orangutans in their natural habitat. Watch them swing gracefully between branches, interact with one another, and carry out their daily routines. Your guide will share fascinating information about their behavior, diet, and conservation efforts.
Don’t forget to take photos of the wildlife and the breathtaking jungle landscapes—these memories will last a lifetime.
Your journey starts at 9:00 AM when your guide picks you up from your guesthouse in Bukit Lawang. You will begin with a scenic walk through local gardens and a traditional rubber plantation, where your guide explains how latex is collected and processed.
Soon after, you’ll enter Gunung Leuser National Park, and your true jungle adventure begins.
In the afternoon, continue trekking toward your first campsite by the river. As the sun sets, you will enjoy a freshly cooked Indonesian dinner, then relax under the night sky in a simple but comfortable bamboo-and-plastic jungle tent.
After breakfast, you continue deeper into the rainforest for another five-hour trek. This area of the jungle is quieter and wilder, offering even better opportunities to spot animals.
The evening is spent enjoying traditional Indonesian food, telling stories with your guide, and listening to the peaceful sounds of the river and night forest.
On the third day, you will trek for around five hours, crossing different terrains as you move from the Landak River toward the larger Bohorok River.
Once you reach the campsite:
Wake up early to the soothing sounds of the jungle while your guide prepares breakfast beside the river.
After breakfast, you may choose between:
You will enjoy your final jungle lunch before starting the journey back.
For the return trip, you will travel to Bukit Lawang using a jungle taxi — a fun tube rafting ride down the river, guided safely by your rafting captain. The jungle taxi will drop you back at your guesthouse, completing your four-day adventure.
This trek requires good physical fitness due to long trekking distances, steep terrain, and continuous movement through wild jungle pathways.
