This popular two-day trek takes you deep into Gunung Leuser National Park, giving you greater chances to encounter orangutans and other wildlife while experiencing the rainforest more fully.
Your guide picks you up around 9 AM from your guesthouse. The trek begins with a walk past plantations and the park border before entering the rainforest.
Over the next hours, you’ll explore the jungle in search of orangutans, gibbons, thomas leaf monkeys, hornbills, and many other species. Your guide will share insights about the forest’s plants and wildlife along the way.
You’ll stop for lunch at our “jungle restaurant” viewpoint, then continue trekking until you reach the riverside campsite around 4 PM. Here you can relax, swim, enjoy tea or coffee, and later have a delicious Indonesian dinner.
Spend the evening playing games, sharing stories, and listening to the sounds of the jungle before sleeping in a simple tent beside the Bohorok River.
After a jungle breakfast, continue trekking for another 3–4 hours, with more chances to see orangutans and the rainforest’s hidden beauty. Enjoy lunch at a scenic viewpoint before heading down to the river.
Your adventure finishes with a fun tube rafting ride back to Bukit Lawang — the perfect ending to an unforgettable journey.
